INTRODUCING BOARS
It is possible to introduce boars but there are a few important rules to stick to.
The new boar must be no more than 8 to 12 weeks old.
There must be introduced in a neutral area, and go into a clean hutch.
There must have Vick rubbed into there rumps and in the hutch to disguise there smell.
Put Vick around the hutch so that it smells strong.
Take out or block off any bedroom area until they are used to each other, or they will just hide and it will take longer for them to settle.
Allow them to become a little hungry. Then put in some really tasty food so that they are more interested with that than each other.
Do not put them in too big an area at first, they should get used to each other, before you let them into a big area.
Do not handle for a few days and never separate or allow them to meet any other guinea pigs.
They will mount each other and occasionally spar, this is not fighting.
You must expect a little bit of sparring they have to get used to each other, and this is how they do it, one needs to be in charge.
If they do fight seriously do not separate them with your hands, they have sharp teeth.
No more than two boars together is recommended.
Any problems give me a ring. Margaret
