If kept in a shed or garage there must be light and ventilation and no car.
Can go onto the grass in a safe secure run, protected from the sun, you must have a top on the run as they are able to climb out and are easily taken by cats/foxes etc.
Never house a Guinea Pig with a Rabbit.
Use woodshavings and good quality hay for bedding.
Breeding
Do not breed you guinea pigs unless you are sure you have responsible owners to take them on.
Sows can breed from 4 weeks, but must not be allowed to under the age of 8 months; it is advised that sows are to have a litter before they are 12 months old as their muscles around the hips start to lose the elasticity which can prove a problem when giving birth, and could be detrimental to the sows health.
Gestation is 70 days. The boar must be removed at 60 days, or they will mate immediately she gives birth. Weaning is 4 weeks for boars and when you like for girls. As long as the mum is fit and healthy and tolerates them.
Groups of sows can live happily together but its best to have only two boys together.
Do not separate your pigs for long periods as it can cause fighting.
